巨匠ロマン・ポランスキーが悪魔崇拝者たちに狙われたある主婦の恐怖を描いたオカルト・サイコ・ホラー。マンハッタンの古いアパートに、若い夫婦者が越してきた。やがて妻のローズマリーは身篭もり、隣人の奇妙な心遣いに感謝しながらも、妊娠期特有の情緒不安定に陥っていく。彼女は、アパートで何か不気味なことが進行している、という幻想にとり憑かれていた……。
